Taíba Beach set the stage for a spectacular show by Ceará's top surfers at the JISK Pro Taíba, the opening stopof the circuit, which took place from May 29 to 31. The main highlight was the long-awaited debut of the Women's Professional category.
Itim Silva seeks to clinch back-to-back championships
Sunday (31) was entirely dedicated to the professional competitions. Edvan Silva, a four-time Ceará state champion, earned the highest score of the event with an 8.67. Ytalo Oliveira, representing Barra do Ceará, put on a great show, delivering a solid performance in highly challenging conditions to win the final. To achieve this, he had to tap into all his talent and versatility to overcome major names in local surfing, executing a thrilling comeback with just 20 seconds remaining on the clock. With this result, Ytalo secures his second consecutive title at Taíba, having also won this stage last year by reversing the final in the dying seconds. Itim Silva finished as runner-up, Edvan Silva took third place, and Saymon Rocha, a standout from the new generation, completed the podium. Following this victory, Ytalo solidifies his position as one of the top names in Ceará surfing and takes an early lead in the race for the coveted pro state champion title.
Eloá Lima has been making history in Ceará's surfing
In the women's division, a historic chapter for the sport in the state was brilliantly written: 12-year-old Eloá Lima claimed the first-ever Women's Professional title. The young athlete outperformed runner-up Jéssica Santos, Rilary Silva (third place), and Vitória Carneiro (fourth place). "The JISK Pro Taíba didn't just kick off the state season at full strength—it rewrote the history of Ceará surfing by sanctioning the official debut of the women's professional category, a milestone that puts Ceará at the forefront of recognizing female talent in national surfing," explained Amélio Júnior, president of the Surfing Federation of the State of Ceará.
